Court Gives Probationary Sentence to Levine Lee Client in Platinum Partners Matter

On November 15, 2023, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York sentenced Daniel Small to less than one year of probation in the high-profile Platinum Partners case. Levine Lee represented Mr. Small during a widely-covered trial in the summer of 2022. Contrary to the government’s sensational claims of a massive fraud, after seven years of litigation, based on the evidence, a jury acquitted Mr. Small of attempting to deprive investors of money or property—the central charge against him—and the Court ultimately found that there were no losses or victims.

The firm is deeply appreciative of the Court’s careful and thoughtful decision on sentencing. The Levine Lee LLP team included Seth L. Levine, Scott B. Klugman, Paul A. Murphy, Alison M. Bonelli, and Steven W. Kessler.
